2020 was a year for the books, if there ever was one! It was certainly full of ups and downs for me, and I’m more than a little glad to greet 2021 tomorrow. Here’s a little recap of my year: 2020 in 12 photos.
JANUARY
Brandon joined me on a work trip to New York City in January, and we had a magical day exploring the city in the snow. This was our 2020 Christmas card photo, taken right after an incredible brunch at Boquiera.
FEBRUARY
We took my step-daughter, Emma, to see TobyMac for her birthday. Sadly, it was our last in-person concert of 2020. ?
MARCH
March 16 was my first day working from home. Who could have predicted that I’d be ending the year at this very same desk? Brandon joined me for work from home life a couple of weeks later, and he’s still WFH right now, too.
APRIL
The picture I really want to share is Brandon’s attempt at cutting his own hair, but he might not forgive me. So we’ll go with this: part of our delicious Easter Sunday spread from Sir Winston. One of our favorite meals of the year.
MAY
Our wedding dinner was held at Milner’s, and we have dinner there each year for our anniversary. This year was no exception. We picked up our meal at the restaurant and ate on our back porch. We vowed to be somewhere amazing on our next anniversary in 2021.
JUNE
Brandon (plus his family, with the tiniest bit of help from me) knocked out a huge home improvement project in June and re-skinned our deck. It was a lot of hard work, but we have enjoyed it so much! We’ll stain it in the spring, and then the project will be 100% complete.
JULY
Schmidt appreciation pic because he’s precious and will let me do anything I want with him. This apparently includes putting him in my niece’s doll stroller.
AUGUST
A summer Friday afternoon spent at Hello, Sailor? Perfect. I’m also not mad about the copious amount of watermelon I ate over the summer.
SEPTEMBER
I voted (really) early. ?
OCTOBER
I first saw this infinity pool on Instagram in 2017, and never expected the stars to align for me to find myself swimming in it alone, in the middle of a global pandemic, when it was 40 degrees outside. Funny how life turns. The pool, by the way, is at the Courtyard Erie Bayfront in Erie, Pennsylvania. We spent a night there during our fall road trip.
NOVEMBER
We visited Texas just before Thanksgiving and loved exploring Austin, Waco, and San Antonio. I felt like I was in the Garden of Eden when we visited The Alamo, and Brandon obliged my request to take (many) photos.
DECEMEBER
I love this blurry, imperfect Christmas morning photo. Schmidt had seven stuffed monkeys in his stocking. Brandon is wearing a toboggan because our power went out on Christmas Eve night and it was below freezing on Christmas morning when we woke up. We also had no running water, but that’s another story. A memorable Christmas to end a memorable year.
