Thoughts on traveling during COVID-19

October 26, 2020 · In: Travel

Even though I’m still pretty far behind, I like writing about our travels in chronological order. Today, I’d like to break that a bit to talk about something timely: traveling during COVID-19. Our goal to visit 50 states in 5…

Two meals in two states

We met this little dude 8 years ago today. Most pe We met this little dude 8 years ago today. Most people are surprised to learn Schmidt’s age, because he still looks and acts like a puppy most of the time.

But in those 8 years he has been through so much life with us. He jumped out of a moving car on a busy freeway when he was just a few months old, and had barely a scratch. He was the only member of the family home the second (!) time we were robbed. He has moved with us from our one bedroom apartment all the way to our current home, where friends joked he would have his own room. He was a happy face to greet me every day while I struggled with losing my uncle, my dad, my grandfather.

He has endured many Halloween costumes, from a hot dog to a pirate. He can tell when he’s going to his grandparents’ house, and gets excited like a little kid. He always eats the pickles on my Chick-fil-A sandwich. He keeps us safe from intruders by loudly announcing anyone who dares to drive up our street. 🥴

He’s a good boy, and I’m grateful for the time we’ve had together and the time we still have to come.

A moment of calm for Monday. A moment of calm for Monday.
December 31st. There’s so much to reflect upon a December 31st. There’s so much to reflect upon and to anticipate in the year to come. Never has that been more true than now, at the end of 2020.

We took this photo almost a year ago, during a January visit to New York City, before the world turned upside down. I have looked back on this day many times this year, missing the way things were. The truth is, there’s no going back to the way things were - and that’s true at the end of every year. Onward and upward! I’m ready to meet 2021.

Thanks to @callawaybh for the 📸s and for kindly asking me if I think all women are “this particular” when having their photo taken. 🙃🙂
